Volunteer at LDEC

Veterans ride one day each week. While onsite, you can assist riders as horse leaders or sidewalkers or visit with our non-riding veterans. You can also provide general assistance such as horse grooming, serving lunch and performing general clean-up.

Host a fundraiser or special event such as a bake sale, spaghetti dinner, Poker Run or a raffle. Recent volunteer-sponsored fundraisers include a “Girls’ Night Out for a Special Cause Dinner” and an I-Pod raffle. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. You can also participate in LDEC organized fundraisers such as the Spring and Fall Trail Rides.

Help with volunteer coordination, writing “thank you” letters to donors, maintaining volunteer forms, or developing promotional materials about LDEC and disseminating it to the community, media and internet. We are also in need of grant writers and folks experienced in identifying funding sources.

LDEC is a 7 acre facility with both indoor and outdoor riding capabilities. As such, we are always in need of good old fashion elbow grease to maintain our fences, fields, stalls, lounge and indoor and outdoor arenas.

If you have horse experience or just enjoy being around horses we could use your help with horse grooming, tack-cleaning, horse feeding and vet/farrier coordination.
